I bring 30 years of business experience to my executive coaching and consulting practice having been both General Counsel and Head of Human Resources in private and public companies ranging between 135 and 12,000 employees. If it's happened in business, I've probably seen it--twice.
Most recently I was the Chief Legal Officer at Marqeta (Nasdaq: MQ) (www.marqeta.com) where I led the legal, risk and compliance functions (50 professionals total) and helped take the company public in June of 2021. Prior to that I led SolarCity’s (Nasdaq: SCTY, acquired by Tesla 2016) legal, compliance and risk management groups (75 professionals total) for 8 plus years including during its 2012 IPO. I also led SolarCity's HR function for 2 years. I joined SolarCity when it had 200 employees and when I left it had over 12,000 employees. I've seen scale. I've worked with brilliant and super demanding founders and boards. Prior to joining SolarCity, I was Vice President, General Counsel, Head of HR and Chief Privacy Officer at Coremetrics, a leading digital marketing company that was acquired by IBM. Prior to joining Coremetrics, I was an attorney practicing in both the employment and corporate departments at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in Palo Alto, CA, the leading law firm representing technology companies at all stages of their growth. Prior to joining WSGR, I was an attorney with Stoneman, Chandler and Miller, as well as Hutchins, Wheeler and Dittmar (acquired by Nixon Peabody), both in Boston, Massachusetts. I earned my bachelor's degree in political science at Penn State and earned a law degree with honors at Boston University. The legacy I am most proud of from my career is the professional growth of those I have coached, mentored and sponsored. So far, eight of the members of my SolarCity legal team and two members of my Marqeta team have become General Counsels. Two others are now partners at prestigious law firms and one is the head of IP at one of the world's leading technology companies. When I'm not coaching I am usually:
- Walking or training Tilly, my Aussie mix
- At the gym, remembering my glory days as a very (non) competitive power lifter!
- At the track, in a high performance driving event (HPDE) trying to win first prize (i.e. taking the car home in one piece!)
- Traveling, my family and I love to explore new places and eat unusual food
- Binge watching something on Netflix; or
- Reading a business book
